Let's figure out what props to bring to your photoshoot!

Props are a great way to add variety to the photoshoot and provide more content types for social media.

Make sure to assemble them a few days before the shoot, so you have time to get everything you need.

Bring a bag so you can easily transport your props as we move to different shoot spots.

Props Inspiration

The following are suggestions for props to help elevate the look and feel of your photoshoot.

LIFESTYLE

Want to create a lifestyle shot? Think of where your product would be used. What are some other products or activities your target audience is interested in?

Ex: mug, books, sage, candles, incense, crystals, singing bowls.

APPLICATION

Showcase your product’s application. How is your product used or applied? What tools are used for application?

Ex: brush, soap, towel, syringe.

BEHIND-THE-SCENES

Give a behind-the-scenes look of your offerings. Showcase the process of making your products. Keep in mind these photos will be captured in a natural landscape and we will be moving around to capture a variety of backgrounds. If your tools are too bulky or heavy to move around, simply select items that are symbolic of your process instead.

Ex: apron, tools, raw materials, paint, bowls, thread, needle.

MATERIALS & INGREDIENTS

Do you discuss the benefits of certain ingredients on social media or on your website? Bring some of the raw ingredients. They’re also great for providing a visual representation of the texture, scent, or taste of your product and increase desire.

Ex: fruits, vegetables, powders, flowers, baskets, cutlery.

TEXTURE

Showcase your product’s texture. If you go with a colorful background, make sure it fits within your brand colors.

Ex: smooth and wipeable surface, glass blocks, water, wipes.

REFLECTION

Add depth to shots and create an artistic feel with refections.

Ex: mirror, reflective surface.

FRAMING

Bring objects to frame your product. A frame within a frame is great for naturally drawing the eye to a focus point and making a product look important or “art worthy”.

Ex: geometric objects, fabrics, or simple colored paper and cardboard.

SHADOWS

Bring props to create interesting shadows. Please note this shadow effect will work in sunny weather (and won’t be very effective if it’s foggy or cloudy since sunlight will be diffused).

Ex: plants, glass, or random objects you can find at the local thrift store.

LEVELS

Bring props that create different levels to showcase your different products.

Ex: wood blocks, rocks, cement blocks, glass blocks.

DISPLAY

Bring props to help display your products. This will be particularly useful if you have a series of products. Keep in mind we will be moving around, so your display items should be lightweight, portable, and easy to set up.

Ex: hangers, shelves, mannequin, sculptures, wire, stairs.

CLOTH

Bring cloth to create nice textures and curves.

Ex: cloth, silk, beachy accessories like shells, branches, flowers.

ACCESSORIES

Bring accessories to add a design element to your product in nature shot.

Ex: glass, glitter, wire, pebbles, paper, sculptures, bubbles, cotton.

Photoshoot Props

Describe the props you plan on bringing to the photoshoot.

Your list of props does not need to be exact – it’s simply for referencing and inspiration.
