Step 4 of our 5-step onboarding process is to book your photoshoot!
How It Works
1. SESSION BOOKING
Review these photoshoot guidelines, then book your photoshoot session on our calendar at the bottom of this page.
2. PHOTOSHOOT DAY
Bring any props, products, or items you’d like to include in your shots. We’ll capture everything prepared for our shot list.
3. IMAGE DELIVERY
We’ll add our favorites to your landing page. After we launch your store, you will also receive the full gallery.
Shot List
The images captured will be displayed on your store landing page to represent your brand, style, and personality.
While every Mindful Maker is different, we have a shot list template for your store landing page that will mirror your text.

Photoshoot Color Scheme
CONSISTENT SCHEME
Focus on a specific color scheme. This will be the color scheme for your outfit, offerings, and props used in the photos. Your outfit colors should either be or complement your brand colors.
BRAND COLORS
Consider your brand colors. Your color palette should align with your values and the messaging that you wish to communicate. Choose colors to make your brand identity shine through.
PHOTOSHOOT ENVIRONMENT
Coordinating your outfit with the landscape and background makes for better photos. Since we’ll be in a natural setting, colors to consider include grey, tan, cream, olive, blue, lighter browns, white, and black.
WHAT TO AVOID
Avoid potentially distracting patterns and wear solids. No holes, kittens, animals, tie dye, obvious logos, faces on clothing, etc.
Avoid neon & bright colors (They don’t usually photograph well and can cause problems in editing).
What To Wear
Bring multiple outfits
Prepare up to 10 outfits. Layering is an effective way of achieving different looks in little time. Bring a variety of accessories (hats, scarfs, shirts, jackets, necklaces, etc.)
Make it a quick change
If you plan on changing entire outfits, make sure it’s a quick change and bring a towel for covering. As we are shooting outdoors, it’s unlikely we’ll have the time or access to a bathroom during the shoot.
Don’t forget the shoes!
It’s best to have solid color shoes, but if you have colorful ones, make sure they match well with your outfits. Consider bringing backup shoes for walking around the natural landscape in between shots.
MOODBOARD
While this photoshoot is a styled, artsy, and heightened version of you, it’s still YOU.
Here are some examples from Pinterest, but don’t forget to keep your brand in mind!
Props Inspiration
The following are suggestions for props to help elevate the look and feel of your photoshoot.
We’ll capture your offerings in action. Think of where your product would be used. What are some other products or activities your audience is interested in?
Ex: mug, books, sage, candles, incense, crystals, singing bowls.

Showcase your product’s application. How is your product used or applied? What tools are used for application?
Ex: brush, soap, towel, syringe.

Showcase the process of making your products. Keep in mind these photos will be captured in a natural landscape and we will be moving around to capture a variety of backgrounds. If your tools are too bulky or heavy to move around, simply select items that are symbolic of your process instead.
Ex: apron, tools, raw materials, paint, bowls, thread, needle.

Bring some of the raw ingredients. They’re also great for providing a visual representation of the texture, scent, or taste of your product and increase desire.
Ex: fruits, vegetables, powders, flowers, baskets, cutlery.

Showcase your product’s texture. If you go with a colorful background, make sure it fits within your brand colors.
Ex: smooth and wipeable surface, glass blocks, water, wipes.

Add depth to shots and create an artistic feel with refections.
Ex: mirror, reflective surface.

Bring objects to frame your product. A frame within a frame is great for naturally drawing the eye to a focus point and making a product look important or “art worthy”.
Ex: geometric objects, fabrics, or simple colored paper and cardboard.

Bring props to create interesting shadows. Please note this shadow effect will work in sunny weather (and won’t be very effective if it’s foggy or cloudy since sunlight will be diffused).
Ex: plants, glass, or random objects you can find at the local thrift store.

Bring props that create different levels to showcase your different products.
Ex: wood blocks, rocks, cement blocks, glass blocks.

Bring props to help display your products. This will be particularly useful if you have a series of products. Keep in mind we will be moving around, so your display items should be lightweight, portable, and easy to set up.
Ex: hangers, shelves, mannequin, sculptures, wire, stairs.

Bring cloth to create nice textures and curves.
Ex: cloth, silk, beachy accessories like shells, branches, flowers.

Bring accessories to add a design element to your product in nature shot.
Ex: glass, glitter, wire, pebbles, paper, sculptures, bubbles, cotton.

Photoshoot Location
Please review the following location suggestions and choose the one that best suits your brand.
Beach, forest, cliffs.

Forest, lake.

Beach, jungle, flower field, cliff, lake.

Beach, forest, cliffs.
