Our Intention

Our intention is to help site visitors understand who you are, why you do what you do, what’s in it for them.

We want people to authentically connect with you and your mission.

The following prompts and questions are designed with sales & marketing fundamentals in mind.

Quick Tips!

– Be genuine in your answers, dig deep into your “why” (don’t be afraid to be vulnerable)

– Keep the customer in mind and how you add value to THEIR lives (even if it’s your passion, art, or hobby)

– Avoid making general statements or empty promises of “magical cure alls” (be specific and backup your claims)

– Write full sentences with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation (avoid run-on sentences, consider using Grammarly!)

– Write in the third person (use your name & pronouns instead of “I”)

– Keep in mind who your target audience is & speak to them (use a consistent tone of voice)

– Keep it simple & easy to read (avoid complicated words & filler adjectives & redundant wording)

Pronouns

I speak directly to my audience - I use “you” (instead of “people” or “individuals”)

Tone

I speak in a consistent tone of voice that my audience understands

My answers are focused on what my audience would care about

My tone sounds natural and accessible

I don’t use any “fancy” words, technical terms, jargon, or confusing acronyms

Grammar

I checked for correct grammar using Grammarly (free web browser extension)

I’ve checked there are no spelling mistakes (I use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar)

I’ve broken up any run-on sentences into a simple sentence structure

Specificity

I use specific language more than vague superlatives

I avoided hyperbolic words (market-leading, breakthrough, innovative, stunning, ultimate, revolutionary)

I don’t make bold or sweeping claims (Ex: Use “One day installation” NOT “fastest installation”)

I don’t use clichés like “this is the best quality”

Emotion

If appropriate, I use words that evoke emotion

If appropriate, I use sensory words and tap into the five senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, smell).

Concise

My answers are concise, straight to the point, and easily scannable

Every word counts, is purposeful, and adds value

I avoided filler words such as: actually, literally, honestly, just, nice, sorry, that, very, kind of, maybe

I removed unnecessary adverbs (carefully curated → curated, stressful crisis → crisis)

I removed desperate adverbs (critically important → critical, extremely helpful → helpful)

I replaced adjectives with stronger nouns (difficult situation → dilemma, small difference → nuance)
